Located near Erie, PA, we offer comprehensive training programs for tailwheel and backcountry flying. Our experienced instructors are committed to helping pilots develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate challenging terrain and land in remote locations.

Our tailwheel training covers the unique handling characteristics of these aircraft, focusing on techniques for takeoff, landing, and taxiing. With our expert guidance, pilots will learn how to master the art of tailwheel flying and expand their capabilities in a variety of aircraft.

In our backcountry flying course, pilots will learn how to safely operate in off-airport environments including unimproved runways and unmarked landing spots. From advanced maneuvers to emergency procedures, our training will equip pilots with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle the demands of backcountry flying.

FAQs

  • We offer a Basic Tailwheel course starting at $2499 which includes 10 Hours of flight time in our J-3 Cub and 5 hours of ground instruction. We also offer by the hour at the hourly rate of $150/hr plus applicable taxes for the aircraft plus instructor rate of $75/hr.

  • We offer a variety of ways to complete the Basic Tailwheel course including condensed training in a weekend or spread out based on each individual pilot’s needs.

  • For the Basic Tailwheel course we require at-least a Sport or Private Pilot Certificate.

    Intermediate and Backcountry Training will be evaluated based on each pilot’s individual experience level.

  • We do not. Our sole focus is tailwheel and backcountry flying.
